Simple Scan (Simple Scanner) turns your smartphone into a fast, pocket-sized document scanner. You can scan documents, photos, receipts, reports, and almost any paper you come across. The app saves every scan directly to your device as a high-quality image (JPG) or as a PDF, so you can store files locally and access them anytime.

Scan, Name, and Organize Your Files

You can rename scans and sort them into folders to keep work, school, and personal documents separate. The app also supports tags, which helps you find important files quickly when you don’t remember the exact filename.

Share and Sync Across Services and Devices

Simple Scan gives you multiple ways to share and back up your scans. You can upload JPG and PDF files to cloud storage automatically, and you can back up and restore your files across multiple devices through synchronization. When you need to send or output documents, you can share scans via email, print, or fax, and you can export to services like Dropbox, Evernote, Google Drive, WhatsApp, and other apps. You can also connect over Wi‑Fi to transfer files directly to your computer.

Built-In OCR and PDF Tools

You can extract text from scanned pages using OCR (text recognition), then export the recognized text for notes, editing, or search. The app also lets you import PDF files and convert them into JPG images when you need images instead of a multi-page document.

Smart Image Processing for Clear Results

The app automatically detects page edges and removes messy backgrounds to create a clean digital copy. You can choose different scanning modes—color, grayscale, or black and white—depending on the document type. If you want more control, you can manually adjust image parameters and pick from multiple contrast levels to make monochrome text sharper and easier to read.

PDF Export Settings and Viewing Options

You can set the PDF page size to match standard formats such as Letter, Legal, or A4. The app also offers thumbnail and list views, and you can sort files by date or title so recent documents or important items stay easy to locate.

Speed, Search, and Security

Simple Scan focuses on performance and runs quickly, even when you scan often. You can search by document title to locate files faster. If you store sensitive paperwork, you can protect documents with a password to keep your scans private.

Android 11+ Storage Note

On devices running Android 11 and above, the app stores files in a private directory. This behavior follows Google’s newer storage policies, and it prevents other apps or file managers from freely modifying those files. On devices below Android 11, you can still choose external storage options when available.
